Business Rocks&trade Career Day

The Office of Economic Development and Linkhorne Middle School partnered to present Business Rocks™ Career Day on Friday February 19, 2010. At the request of Lynchburg City Schools and Junior Achievement, the Office of Economic Development made this event a part of its workforce development initiatives. Good schools = good education = good jobs as we grow Lynchburg's future workforce.
More than twenty professionals spoke with 8th graders from Linkhorne about their careers and the importance of education. A special thank you goes to the following participants and businesses for volunteering time out of their busy schedules.

Friday, February 19, 2010, local business professionals participated in Business Rocks™ Career Day at Linkhorne Middle School.
Laura Rogers, with The Nature Zone, loves to share about her career choice, working with animals!
Albert Jennings, from Liberty University shared insight with students about the roll of Director of Urban Affairs on a college campus.
Students also heard about life in the emergency room as a registered nurse.
"Who knew you could make a flower out of a tootsie roll?" Renee Stevens and her culinary arts students from E.C. Glass amazed the Linkhorne students with many different edible creations!
These 8th graders were eager to hear about what life is like as an engineer!
