Grow One™ Summer Camp

Beginning July 26th, Grow One™ Summer Camp will kick off its third year. 2009 has brought exciting changes to this one week residential camp for rising seventh graders in Region 2000 held at Lynchburg College. The United Way of Central Virginia has taken this program on as part of their "community impact" focus on preparing youth for the workforce. Grow One™ is an innovative "organic" approach to workforce development. The program is a partnership beween the Center for Economic Education and the United Way of Central Virginia. Financial support comes from area businesses, Lynchburg Economic Development Authority and Region 2000 Economic Development Council. Students learn economics and business basics necessary to start their own businesses. The Mini-Society® curriculum, developed by Dr. Marilyn Kourilsky, will culminate in an international market day and graduation 'launch' on July 31st at 1:00 PM.
