NovaTech Triples Manufacturing Space

Lynchburg, VA - December 12, 2006 - On December 4th NovaTech broke ground on a building expansion that will triple the size of its manufacturing space. The 6,000 square foot addition includes a 30 ft tall high-bay area to house a 5-ton bridge crane. The additional space is needed to support NovaTech's growth in its nuclear, aerospace, and industrial business segments. NovaTech moved into its existing Lynchpin Industrial Park facility in February 2002.
President Richard "Hawk" Rochow explained, "Our existing facility was designed with a modest growth rate in mind. Fortunately, the company has grown much faster than expected, particularly in the nuclear business segment. We are now being asked to fabricate numerous tools, fixtures, and even safety-related equipment for several large nuclear equipment companies. This work led us to upgrade our quality assurance program, and as a result, we were recently added to the qualified supplier list (QSL) of a commercial nuclear manufacturer. Our plan now meets 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and NQA-1 requirements."
Other developments driving the shop expansion include new contracts that utilize NovaTech's 100-ton press for manufacturing formed metal components for industrial and military applications, and that increase utilization of machines recently acquired for producing precision sheet components such as cabinets, electronics drawers, and panels.
Completion of the expansion is expected in five months, during which time no serious impediment to ongoing operations is expected. The capacity to service existing and new customers will be greatly improved once equipment is set up and put to work. The construction company Coleman-Glass of Lynchburg, Virginia was selected to build the addition. Rochow also expressed his pleasure in working with the City's economic director Mary Jane Russell, "The City has been great to work with. They helped us create the site plan and expedited the approval process and permits. They are simply first class people."
