May 21, 2008	E.C. Glass and Heritage high schools rank within the top 5 percent of the nation's most challenging public high schools for the fourth year. Glass ranks 713, and Heritage 1,333 out of approximately 27,000 United States public high schools according to The Newsweek and Washington Post Challenge Index.

March 15, 2008	2007 VEDA Community Economic Development Award: The City of Lynchburg's One Programs, a workforce development process, walked away with one of only three awards presented at the Virginia Economic Development Association (VEDA) Spring Conference held in Williamsburg on March 15 and 16, 2007.
